Manuchar Brazil acquires Fertisanta
Our Brazilian subsidiary, Manuchar Comercio Exterior Ltda. (MCE) has acquired a majority participation in Fertilizantes Santa Catarina Ltda. (“Fertisanta”). The transaction is effective since the 29th of May 2015.
Fertisanta (www.fertisanta.com.br) occupies an area of 60,000m2 within the primary zone of the port of Imbituba, attained through a public lease agreement signed in 2012 for 25 years and renewable for another 25 years. Next to being a port operator, Fertisanta offers additional services like mixing and bagging of simple elements and NPK (fertilizer) through automated equipment with a production capacity of 3,000 tons per day.
The Fertisanta Terminal (TERFER) already boasts a covered area of about 30,000m2 and will soon be expanding with an additional 15,000m2 of modern warehouses, which will raise the static storage capacity to more than 150,000 tons. Besides the TERFER area, Fertisanta also occupies zones outside the port, with over 30,000m2 warehouses with an additional static capacity of 100,000 tons.
Manuchar will support Fertisanta to continue increasing Fertisanta’s capacity and operational efficiency through strategic investments in the coming years.
In Brazil, Manuchar has been present since 1993 and today covers the entire country. Its 200 employees are based in its local headquarters in Rio de Janeiro and six other offices and operational sites in Recife, São Paulo, Santos, Curitiba, Imbituba and Blumenau. The port of Imbituba is an ideal gateway to supply the south of Brazil with fertilizers, chemicals, animal feed, steel, cement and many other products because it is set on the open sea, free of congestion and well equipped with mobile cranes, ship loaders, complete stowage material and qualified personnel. Large volumes of grain, maize, soybeans and other products that are produced in this fertile region of Brazil are also exported through the port of Imbituba.
