Early 2021, Manuchar launched ManuCare – our global social responsibility program – centered around the UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 8 (Decent Work). We aim to support initiatives related to improving the lives of our communities, with a special focus on children’s education, improving their schools, and offering internships to older students. By providing capacity-building opportunities to our own employees and our surrounding communities we hope to significantly reduce the proportion of young people and adults who are unemployed, or receiving minimum education or training.
A selection of projects we support throughout 2021:
Near our operational site in Escobedo, Mexico Manuchar colleagues train and educate children on topics related to society and caring for the environment.
In Puerto Cortes, Honduras we are assisting a local school with the renovation of a new school building. The new school can accommodate 73 students.
In South Africa we support LIV2Educate whose mission is to equip orphaned and vulnerable children with essential moral values and life skills, so they’ll grow up to influence positive change in South Africa.
Near our operational site in Manoguayabo, Dominican Republic we are training children and adolescents from different communities to acquire a comprehensive education that allows them to contribute to the development of a free and fair society.
In the suburbs of Abidjan located near our warehouse, we are supporting several public schools that are in need of renovation, providing running water and electricity as well as providing educational materials for students.
In the Philippines, Manuchar organizes on-the-job training and internships for under-graduates coming from low income families. Internship opportunities include mechanics and heavy equipment maintenance, as well as basic office administration tasks.
